Peter Tilger

Died – At his home in the town of Rantoul on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 13, Peter Tilger, aged 60 years, 8 months and 23 days. The deceased was born in Bavaria, Germany, April 21, 1848, and in 1856 came to America with his parents who located at Milwaukee where they remained a short time and then moved to the town of Meeme, Manitowoc county. After a short stay there they returned to Milwaukee and in the early sixties moved into the town of Rantoul, this county, where Mr. Tilger followed farming.
In 1874 he was married at Chilton to Agnes Tremmel. He was an industrious man and by his thrift succeeded purchasing a large tract of land and building a good home for himself and family.
Some eight years ago he became a victim to rheumatism and later his eye sight failed him and although noted experts were consulted nothing could be done for his relief and two years ago he became almost totally blind. For six weeks before his death he was unable to leave his bed. He was an honest man, good neighbor and a devout member of the Catholic Church.
He is survived by a widow, three sons, eight daughters and one sister, Mrs. Andrew Woelfel.
The funeral will be held this Saturday morning from St. Mary's church of which he was a member.
