Glen F. Ballard, age 86, of Columbia, passed away Monday, April 12, 2010, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia. He was born in Horseshoe Bend on July 8, 1923, son of the late Asa and Viola (Howser) Ballard. On May 30, 1947, in Iberia, Glen married Alma G. Huddleston, who survives at the home.
He was a lifetime member of the Eldon VFW. Glen was a member of Praise Assembly Church in Columbia.
He is also survived by two sons, Michael Ballard and wife Sue of Richland and Douglas Ballard of Columbia; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Marion Ballard of Columbia and Olen Ballard of Iowa.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Glenda Albertson of Tuscumbia; great-grandchild, Shana Ballard; one brother, Harold Ballard; and one daughter-in-law, Judy Ballard.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with services immediately following at 1 p.m., on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia. Rev. Dennis Stuart will officiate. Interment with military honors will be in new Hope Cemetery in Kaiser. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Praise Assembly Church in Columbia.
