In his death his wife loses a devoted husband, the children a loving father, his neighbors a constant friend and his church a pillar of usefulness, for many years he had been a member of the Evangelical Church, serving as a class leader and trustee with great acceptability. The country also loses a patriotic citizen, he having served during the war in Company E, 93rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers. He was a member of Post 261, G.A.R., at Milesburg. He was appointed post master at Nittany Hall in 1897, and in that capacity served the citizens of the community well and faithfully.
On last Saturday morning the burial services took place from the church at Nittany Hall, which was crowded with friends of the deceased, thus providing the love and respect they had for him. God will comfort the bereaved family until they will again be re-united beyond the grave. The remains were then taken to St. Paul Cemetery, near Clintondale, for interment. He was buried with honors of war.
