FLANAGAN - Alma D. Eigsti, 96, of Eureka and formerly of Flanagan, died at 9:28 a.m. yesterday (Oct. 24, 1989) at Maple Lawn Healthcare Center, Eureka, where she had been a resident nine years.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Waldo Mennonite Church, Flanagan, the Rev. Lester Zook officiating. Burial will be in Waldo Cemetery.
There will be an additional memorial service at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maple Lawn Healthcare Center, the Rev. Robert Harnish officiating.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan, and one hour before the funeral at the church Friday.
Mrs. Eigsti was born Jan. 30, 1893, near Graymont, the daughter of Daniel W. and Mary Roeschley Slagel. She married Edward C. Eigsti on Dec. 31, 1912, in Graymont. He died Aug. 1, 1982.
Surviving are three daughters, Eda Shoemaker, Dakota; Kathryn Reeves, Washington; and Esther Sutter, Rantoul; one son, Arthur, Sarasota, Fla.; one brother, Edwin Slagel of Flanagan; two sisters, Irene Byler, Freeport, and Edna Dillman, Flanagan; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
She was a member of Waldo Mennonite Church.
Memorials may be made to her church or Maple Lawn Healthcare Center.
