On Nov 24, 1963, he was the ambulance driver who, along with his young attendant, Harold Wayne Wolfe, picked up and transported Lee Harvey Oswald from the Dallas Police Department basement, where he was shot by Jack Ruby, to Parkland Hospital, where Oswald died after emergency surgery. Consequently, they were captured on live TV and in many photos shot in the DPD basement and upon arrival at, and departure from, Parkland Hospital. As a result, Mr. Hardin and his attendant were captured for history and are seen in numerous documentaries and news clips, as well as Youtube videos and photos available online.

Tragically, he died at the young age of 38 of a cardiac arrest subsequent to a myocardial infarct. His death certificate documents that he later became a police officer in Dallas and held the title of Detective Sgt. with the Highland Park P.D. (Dallas) at the time of his death.

Rest in Peace young man, and thank you for your service. Heartfelt condolences to his family...
