Henry R. Puga, 76, of Fort Madison, died at 7 a.m. Friday, April 20, 2012, at his home.

Born July 1, 1935, in Fort Madison, he was the son of Lucio and Josefa Diaz Puga. On June 1, 1957, he married Consuelo Pizana in Fort Madison.

Mr. Puga worked at Pilley Brush, Midwest Wax Paper Co. and DuPont, retiring in production. He served with the Army Airborne during the Korean Conflict.

He was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He loved music, especially the blues. He enjoyed dancing and spending time with his grandchildren. He also was a supporter of PAW Animal Shelter.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Jesse (wife Roxanne) Puga and John (wife Karen) Puga, both of Fort Madison; three daughters, Anna Torres of Fort Madison, Laura Kassim of El Paso, Texas, and Carmen Puga of Austin, Texas; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son Henry Puga Jr, one granddaughter Leticia Marie Garza, one grandson Lathan John Puga, three brothers Pedro, Carlos and Jose Puga and four sisters Seferina Pacheco, Mary Cangas, Agnes Garcia and Carmen Guzman.

Per his wishes, cremation has been accorded.

The graveside service with military rites for Mr. Puga will follow visitation in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
