Rosa Lee Gunter Payne, 67, of 140 Scotts Creek Road, Statesville, died Thursday, Oct 3, 2002, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 22, 1935 in New Port, Tenn.,daughter of the late Dave and Neter Gunter. She was a retired seamstress and sales clerk at JR Sale. She was of the Baptist faith. In addition to her parents, her second husband, Glenn Payne, preceded her in death. Also, one son, Ronnie Gunter; two brothers, Arville Gunter and Jessie Gentry; two sisters, Dorothy McDade and Nancy Sowers. Survivors include one son, Wayne Gryder of Hickory; two daughters, Teresa Gryder Queen of Statesville, and Kathy Payne of the home; three brothers, L.V. Gunter and Andrew Gunter, both of Statesville, and Steve Gunter of Maiden; three grandchildren, Tim Gryder, Ashley Simpson and Sara Elizabeth Fox, all of Statesville; three greatgrandchildren, Brandon Grydd Kaylan Gryder and Jazlyn Simpson, all of Statesville. A graveside service will be
conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Jason Guyer will officiate. There will be no formal visitation, however the family will assemble at the home of her daughter, Teresa Queen, 2205 Cline St.,Statesville. Memorials may be given to the American Kidney Foundation, 6110 Executive Blvd., Ste. 1010,Rockville, Md. 20852.
