William E. Baker, 54, formerly of Woodford County, died Thursday night at Greenville, Ohio, after a short illness. His body was brought to Versailles and funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Charles W. Anderson, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the home of Mr. Baker's son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Thomas Baker, on Douglas Avenue. Burial was in Versailles Cemetery. Pall bearers were H. N. Carter, Miles Chapman, Ernest Baker, Virgil Chapman, Burnell Baker and Eugene Chapman. William Eldridge Baker was born March 20, 1887 near Troy, a son of John and Georgenna McManus Baker. He engaged in farming in Woodford County until he moved to Ohio about four years ago. Mr. Baker was a member of the Troy Presbyterian Church. He was held in esteem by many friends. Survivors are his wife, Ms. Anna Rice Baker; a daughter, Mrs. Charles Lutz (Bertha Baker) of Dayton, ohio; three sons, Harvey T. and Lee Sublstt Baker of Versailles and Lowell Douglas Baker of Greenville, Ohio; two sisters, Mrs. Miles Chapman and Mrs. H. N. Carter of Versailles; three brothes, Melvin of San Diego, California, Burnell of Dayton, Ohio, and Ernest Baker of Lexington; two grandsons and two granddaughters.
