MANUEL CABALLERO DIES IN ACCIDENT NEAR SILVER CITY

Manuel Rubio Caballero, life-long resident of Luna County and well-known resident of New Mexico, died Wednesday afternoon in a truck accident about 20 miles NW of Silver City. He was 69.

Mr. Caballero was killed instantly when the truck he was driving overturned, authorities reported.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3pm from St. Anne's Church. Fr. Elias Zuniga will officiate. Mahoney Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery.

Mr. Caballero was born October 30, 1882 , in Deming, son of Mr. & Mrs. Cecilio Caballero. He was associated in the mining and farming industries. At one time, he also operated a bottling plant at the airbase here.

Besides his widow (Consuelo Roman), he is survived by a son, Arthur R., and three daughters, Mrs. Ramona Santa Cruz, Mrs. Esther C. Perrault, and Mrs. Rosie Ellison, and by four sisters, Mrs. Martinez C. Reade, Josephine Caballero, Mrs. Lucy Montoya, and Mrs. Felicitas Lively, and by a brother, Fidel Caballero.

Mr. Caballero had a farm near Dwyer and the mine was at Bear Canyon near Silver City.
