Wayne Matthew Belger, of Varnville, departed this life June 3 after a brief illness.

He was a son of Lenora Clifton Belger of Hampton and the late Raymond Aiken Belger.

Wayne was a nuclear reactor operator at the Savannah River Plant in Aiken, and attended the University of South Carolina where he played on the football team and was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He had coached little league baseball, and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He was a member of the Sandy Run Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his mother and also his wife, Victoria Sharpe Belger of Varnville, are three sons, Ryan Belger of Aiken, Rhett Belger and Ryan Wiles both of Varnville; two daughters, Heather Belger of Batesburg, and Amy Wiles of Chappaqua, NY; one brother, Larry Belger of Allendale, and one sister, Ramona Phillips of Hampton.
