Asher Bird operated the mill until his death.  He died on the third Sunday in October 1843, and was buried in the Asher Ely bird burying ground.  In 1848 or '49 Mrs. Bird married Jacob Schoonover who operated the mill until he died.  He passed away in February 1854, he and Mrs. Schoonover dying within a day of each other, and both were buried on the same day in the burying ground with Mr. Bird."   - West Unity  (Williams County) newspaper, 10 July 1889, p.3
