A newspaper account of Sears and Lena's marriage:

The marriage of Mr. Sears H. Winslow of Fountain Township and Sarah Lena Foglesong took place at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. F. Foglesong in Jordan Township, yesterday morning at 9:30 o'clock, Rev. Bull of Chatfield officiating. Only immediate relatives and intimate friends were present. Neither bride nor groom was attended.

After the ceremony an elaborate dinner was served to which all the guests did ample justice. The groom is an energetic young farmer and a graduate of the state agricultureal school of St. Anthony Park in St. Paul. The bride is a graduate of the Chatfield High School and has taught several successful terms of school.

Both bride and groom are well and favorably known in this city and have a host of friends who extend hearty congratulations. They were the recipients of many useful and costly gifts which show in a small measure the high esteem in which they were held. They left for Faribault
and Blue Earth City upon a wedding trip and will be home to their friends at the groom's home at Central Prairie after May 1st.
FAMILY LIFE

Sears later bought a farm in Jordan Township, and here their eldest three children were born. In the fall of 1915 they sold the farm and bought a home in Spring Valley, and Sears operated a meat market. He later gave that up and was a traveling salesman, traveling by train and selling meat. While living in Spring Valley, their next two children were born.

About 1921, Sears moved to Mason City, Iowa, and worked in the Allis Chalmers factory. About 6 months later they moved to Indiana, between Morgantown and Martinsville and here he operated a farm owned by Lena's mother. They lived there for three years and then moved to Tipton, where the youngest child was born. They then moved closer to Tipton and Sears worked in the roundhouse and also had a small herd of dairy cows. He bottled and peddled milk and Lena raised and sold vegetables.

After a few years they moved back to the home farm in Fountain Township. Here Sears raised his family and farmed until he retired and then turned the farm over to his son Fernando. Sears spent his retirement years in Auburndale, Florida in the winters, and the summers on the home farm. Lena passed away on June 8, 1952 and Sears died on February 12, 1965 in a nursing home in Lanesboro. Both are buried in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.

Lena was a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the Methodist Church and a member of Women's Home and Foreign Missionary Society. She was a gold star mother of the American Legion auxiliary and a news reporter and correspondent for several area newspapers.
