Irene S. Jacobs, 85, passed away Thursday, April 18, 2012, in Bowie, Texas.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2012, at the Central Baptist Church in Bowie.
Burial will follow at Brushy Cemetery in Bowie.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 til' 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012, at the White Family Funeral Home.
Arrangements are entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
Irene was born June 30, 1926 to Edgar and Vida (Willett) Stephenson in Sunset, Texas. Growing up, Irene was a horse trainer and later a truck driver. She also worked at Modern Laundry for 30 years and enjoyed playing Bingo. Irene is remembered with love and appreciation for her devoted years of life as a wife, mother, and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Vida Stephenson; two husbands, Jake Bowman and Cotton Jacobs; three sons, two infants and James Bowman; two brothers, Roy and Bob Stephenson; sister, Pat Cornelison.
Irene is survived by her ten children, Shirley Labus of Bowie, Wallace Bowman of Bowie, Burma Fulmer of Wichita Falls, Mary Gamble of Bowie, Robert Bowman of Palestine, David Bowman of Houston, AR, Floyd Bowman of Buffalo, Becky Covington of Yantis, Tina Bowman of Bowie, and Tommy Bowman of Bowie; 33 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; 9 great, great grandchildren; four sisters, Eva Mae Moore of Arlington, Rose Sutton of Bellevue, Ruth Mayfield of Duncan, OK, and Peggy Butler of Bowie; three brothers, Don Stephenson of Bowie, Jimmy Stephenson of MO, and Charles Stephenson of Lubbock; numerous nieces and nephews.
