Mr. Garrett was a native of Marshall County, and son of the late William Turner and Vivian Nelms Garrett. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in Central Europe. He retired as Senior Vice President and Assistant Trust Officer with First National Bank of Lewisburg after 42 years of service. He was a former elder with Church Street Church of Christ and was presently a member of College Hills Church of Christ in Lebanon. He was a past Commander of VFW Post 5109, and formerly served as a member of the Board of Directors for the Tennessee Children's Home in Spring Hill.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Alta Elizabeth Hamilton Garrett, on October 16, 1991; and seven brothers and one sister.
He is survived by his present wife, Carolyn Lehew Garrett of Lebanon; two sons, William H. Garrett of Lewisburg and Jack Garrett of Franklin; three stepdaughters, Diane Hall of Gulf Shores, Ala., Jo Ann Galbreath of Lebanon, and Gwen Sandlin of St. Louis, Mo.; one sister, Rosalyn Collins of Lewisburg; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, from the chapel of London Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lone Oak Cemetery.
