Composer. Younger brother of Martin Shaw. He was a chorister at St Paul's Cathedral, and was educated at Derby School and at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. He was organ scholar at Caius, and studied with Stanford and Charles Wood. He was Director of Music at Gresham's School, Holt, Norfolk between 1902 and 1910. He was an inspector of music in London schools from 1911-40, and also served chairman of the BBC schools music sub-committee.
