Clara was my friend (and many, many other peoples friend)and she was a retired executive from ATT in New York City. She was a single lady with white hair and loads of personality...she was adored by all (and envied by some)...Clara lived in a simple one bedroom apartment in Phoenix with the Swimming Pool right outside her door...Clara loved to enjoy the company of young friends and we often, very, very often, went out and about town finding great places to eat and drink...Clara also enjoyed ¨tube-ing¨ down the Verde River with all of us on Sundays...it was something that we did often and each of us, including Clara had tubes gliding down the river, sometimes through the rapids, Clara too, on Sunday afternoon. We also had adventures and went to Mexico various times and later, when I moved back to California, Clara would come visit...a very welcomed guest always. Just this past Summer I went to Phoenix for a conference in the deadly just post 4th of July heat...I went to St. Francis Cemetery and visited Clara...as I was pulling the crab grass away from her marker, my hand was litterally covered with biting tiny red ants...I thought this was perfect, Clara was letting me know that she´s not taking this ¨passing business¨ without being noticed...blessing to her, a great and dear friend whom I think of always. Love to you Clara Ursula O´Donnell!
