Obituary from the Johnson County Journal, May 30, 1912
L.L. Edmisten was born in Polk County, Missouri, May 29, 1872, and died at his home in Spring Creek precinct in this county, Wednesday, May 22, 1912.
He came to Johnson County when a young man and was united in marriage to Miss Nellie A., the youngest daughter of John McLaughlin, on February 22, 1897 [note, a mistake was made in the obituary; see the Marriage License submitted as a photo]. To this union five children were born, all of whom with the wife survive.
Mr. and Mrs. Edmisten lived in this county a short time after their marriage, and then moved to northern Nebraska, and later to Effingham, Kansas. Last January they came from the latter place having purchased the D. Kuhlman farm in east Spring Creek on which they resided at the time of Mr. Edmisten's death.
A few weeks ago he traded for the J.S. Miner store in Graf, and had taken charge of the same and was seemingly in the best of health and spirits, but on the morning of May 22, without no word to arouse fears of his family, he took his own life.
