Moses was born in Westminster, Massachusetts on October 18, 1762, the son of Nathan and Rebecca Haynes Wood. Moses drowned in 1777 and is buried in the Woodside Cemetery in Westminster. His gravestone reads: "In memory of Moses Wood son of Dea. Nathan & Mrs. Rebecah Wood who was drowned Dec. 11, 1777 AET. 14"
