Thirteen of Sixteen Children of Pioneer Settler Survive
Funeral services for Ernest Edward Boelter, who died at his home here at 555 Fourth Ave. S. W., Tuesday at the age of 77 years, one month and 16 days, will be held here this afternoon. the services at the home will be at 1:45, and from the Trinity Lutheran church at 2 o'clock, with Rev. A. Kell in charge.
He had been failing health for the past three years, but was seriously ill only the past three weeks.
He is survived by his widow and 13 children. They were the parents of 16 children, one daughter and two sons having preceded their father in death.
Mr. Boelter, the son of John and Wilhelmina Boelter, was born on February 24, 1863 at Henderson, Minnesota. He was baptized in infancy and confirmed in Sibley county on April 6, 1879.
Married In 1886
He was married to Emilie Penk on July 6, 1886, at Moltke, in Sibley county and until 1901 they resided on a farm in Bismarck township, Sibley county. The same year they retired ad moved to Hutchinson, where they have made their home since.
Surviving are his widow, five daughters and eight sons. They are Charles of Cosmos; Louis and Ernest of Hector; Mrs. George Schultz (Minnie) of Cornell, Wis.; Mrs. Arthur Homan (Sophie) of Hutchinson; Mrs. Joe Anderson (Frieda) of Bird Island; William, of St. Paul; Mrs. E. Sternberg (Martha) and Fred, of So. St. Paul; Henry, of St. Peter; Arthur of St. Paul; Mrs. Tony Wenzel (Clara) and Alvin, of St. Paul.
29 Grandchildren
Also surviving are 29 grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren; as well as one brother, Adolph, of Gibbon; and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Koeneke, Mrs. Gottlieb Gorr and Mrs. Fred Gorr, all of Hutchinson.
At the funeral services, six of the grandsons served as pallbearers. They were Harvey Homan, Gerhard Anderson, Raymond, Edwin and Arthur Boelter, and Lois Gorr.
