Paul Otey Anderson Jr. passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, April 16, 2012.

He was born in Newbern, AL, on March 25, 1919 to Margaret Winston and Paul Otey Anderson Sr.

He graduated from Auburn University with a degree in textile chemistry.

After serving as an U. S. Army Lieutenant in World War II, he worked at CIBA Co. in New York City.

He moved to Chattanooga, TN in 1947 to work for Peerless Woolen Mills. During his career in the carpet industry, he was vice president of manufacturing for Rossville Yarn Manufacturing, Rossville Spinning and Rossville Carpet. He co-owned Rossville Yarn Inc. He served as local and national president of the American Association of Textile Colored Chemists.

He was predeceased by his parents, three sisters, one brother, and wife, Mary Beckwith Anderson.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Caroline Prince Anderson; son, Robert Anderson; daughter, Paula (Lee) Turner; stepson, Creed (Carol) Hoodenpyle; stepson, David (Lou Ann) Hoodenpyle; and five nephews. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

There will be a graveside service at Forest Hills Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012.

Friends may visit with the family at Wann Funeral Home prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, Sligo United Methodist Church or Stewart Heights Baptist Church.
