Mike worked on the iron ore boats for over 34 years until his retirement. He enjoyed the camp life, hunting, fishing and going to the casino.
He is survived by three brothers, Richard (Carol) Aker, Fred (Ruth) Aker and Don (Chris) Aker; a sister-in-law, Carole Aker; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leo Aker; and three sisters, Clara Sederberg, Mary Alice Akerley and Shirley Aker.
Mike especially enjoyed his last few years as a resident of Bishop Noa Home where he received not just the care he needed, but also love and support from all the staff. They became family to him and Mike loved them all.
In honoring Mike's wishes, no public services. Laid to rest in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
