Son of Abbie G. and Stella H. Crenshaw. Grandson of Andrew J. Carver and Mary Elizabeth Mahaffee.
Andrew enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII on Feb. 19, 1941 at Charlotte, NC. He served in the Coast Guard artillary corps Habor Defenses of Manila and Subic Bays 60th Coast Artillery Regiment (AntiAircraft) A Btry. He was probably among the 1500 men brought from Manilla, Phillapines in Nov. 1942 to work on the factory at the camp which made plane parts for the Japanese. NARA records show he was imprisioned first at Phillipine Islands as of May 1942 and moved the same year. He died in a prison camp in Hoten POW Camp (Mukden) Manchuria 42-123 in 1943. It is unknown if his body was returned for burial. (place of death is entered as the modern designation for the name of where Mukden prison camp was located)
