William Follmann was born July 29, 1877, in Washington Township, Adair County, Iowa. He attended school there and worked as a farm hand, later farming for himself.

On February 22, 1900, he married Blanche Holaday, who was born near Pine Grove. She moved there with her parents to McCook, Nebraska, at the age of five and attended school there. They returned to Cass County, Iowa when she was 16.

Mr. and Mrs. Follmann started up farming south of Massena in Victoria Township, on the Kaufman place, moving to the farm east of Massena in 1906. In 1918, they built the house where they lived until 1940, when they moved to Massena.

They were parents of five children: Gladys (Mrs. Ivan Jensen), Clarence, Clifford, Ralph and Roy. All their children attended rural school and graduated from Massena High School.

William and Blanche enjoyed farm life, working very hard for many years. They loved flowers and gardening. William was raised Catholic but later became Methodist. William and Blanche were members of the Massena Methodist Church, as were all their children.

They always enjoyed visits with their children and grandchildren, and made many trips to the homes of their brothers and sisters.

Blanche passed away December 21, 1955, and William on August 2, 1963.
