Leonard Wideman, son of Leonard Wideman, Sr. and the former Miss Savil Hanvey, was born on the 1st day of April 1796 near Troy South Carolina.
On Christmas Eve 1818, Leonard married Miss Sarah Carson Patterson, daughter of Josiah C Patterson and the former Miss Margaret Carson of Troy, South Carolina. Both families were charter members of Long Cane and Cedar Springs A.R.P. churches. Leonard and Sarah had seven children.
On the evening of December 10th 1847, Leonard was killed by a man in his employment; who confessed days later of the murder. Leonard was buried in the family cemetery.
