He was born in Roane County, a son of the late C.A. "Lon" and Amma Coen Kendall. He was retired from Monarch Rubber Company, Spencer, was an oil field worker, a farmer and a member and deacon of Triplett Baptist Church, Spencer.
He is survived by his wife, Ethel Thelma Reynolds Kendall; two daughters, Mary Kendall of Spencer and Madge Reynolds of Columbia Station, Ohio; one son, Robert E. Kendall of Spencer; and one grandson Robbie Kendall, also of Spencer.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Etta Sommerville, and three brothers, Arliss, Orville, and Shirley Kendall.
Services will be 10:30am Friday May 9, 1997 at Taylor Vandale Funeral Home with Rev. James Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Morford Cemetery, Spencer. Visiting hours will be 6:00-8:00pm Thursday May 8, 1997 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 400 Allen Drive, Charleston, WV 25032
