Artist. A portraitist, he studied under famed artist Thomas Sully in Philadelphia from 1814 to 1817 in an apprenticeship financed by statesman Henry Clay. Painted well known subjects such as Henry Clay, Dr. Benjamin Dudley and Zachary Taylor. One portrait of President Taylor crafted by Bush is now displayed in the White House Collection in Washington.
