He was the son of Matthias Sims Blackmon, Sr. and Cora Edna Williams. His obituary:April 2, 1916 - Jan 6, 2012 OKLAHOMA CITY Fred was a member of Southern Hills Baptist Church and retired from Wilson & Company after 42 years of service. He served proudly in the infantry during WWII and was awarded the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers and sisters; wives, Gladys and Faye. Survivors include his daughter, Janet Kay Wilder; and son, James Robert Blackmon - both of Sapulpa; sister, Sarah Freshour of OKC; four grandchildren and one greatgrandchild. Viewing will be 4-8 p.m., Mon. & Tues., at Vondel Smith Mortuary, S. Western. Services will be 2 p.m., Wed., Jan. 11, 2012, at the South Colonial Chapel.
