Captain John Stanfield is the son of William and Sarah (MNU) Stanfield.

He was the husband of Sarah (Roberts) Stanfield. They were married on Feb. 16, 1777 in Antrim Parish, Halifax County, Virginia, and they had 12 children together by their marriage.

Sarah (Roberts) Stanfield (Dec. 17, 1757 VA - Feb. 03, 1854 Marshall Co., AL) is the daughter of William Roberts and Sarah (Addison) Roberts.

Captain John Stanfield was a Revolutionary War Solider.

He served as Private promoted to Lieutenant from Guilford County, North Carolina; promoted to Captain.

He served part of the time under Captain Arnold, also under Major Crump and General Caswell. He was in "The Battle of Guilford Court House" and was in service at the close of the War. His service as Lieutenant amounted to at least seven months before his promotion to Captain.

Captain John Stanfield resided, after his service, in Randolph County, North Carolina (formerly a part of Guilford County, North Carolina.

Sarah (Roberts) Stanfield was allowed pension on account of the service of her husband as an Officer in the Revolutionary War on her application executed July 12, 1848: she resided then with her youngest son, George R. Stanfield, in Dalton, Murray County, Georgia. In 1849, this son's address was Van Buren, DeKalb County, Alabama, and in 1850 it was Hendricksville, in said DeKalb County, Alabama, which was also his address in 1852. In 1854, Sarah (Roberts) Stanfield was living with her son, George R. Stanfield, in Highpoint Community , in Marshall County, Alabama. It was there on the 3rd day of February 1854 that Sarah (Roberts) Stanfield died at the age of 96. She was buried in the Highpoint Cemetery.

Any records for the burial location of Captain John Stanfield have not been found, and no headstone or grave marker have been found for him.
