SPRINGFIELD - A private memorial celebration will be held for Donald Earl Maness of Springfield, who committed suicide on Jan. 9. He was 39.
He was born March 8, 1966, in Anoka, Minn., to Jackie and Darlene Hathaway Maness. He married Nyoka Burton on July 25, 1988, in Yreka, Calif.
Maness graduated from high school and was employed as a laborer. He enjoyed writing poetry, playing the drums, camping, hiking and spending time with his family. He will be remembered by family and friends for his "joy of poetry and music and his love for God."
Survivors include his wife; his mother, Darlene Lundquist; a son, Steven of Eugene; a daughter, Nike Maness of Springfield; two brothers, Mike of Boise and Sean of Minnesota; and a sister, Lisa Maness of Minnesota.
Andreason's Cremation & Burial Service in Eugene is in charge of arrangements.
