James L "Jim" Summers, age 76, of Eastland, Texas, passed away on Monday, April 16, 2012. Jim was born on August 28, 1935, in Fort Worth, Texas, to Joseph and Rubelle Summers. He graduated from Grand Prairie High School and attended Texas A&M University. Jim was well known in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. He is the former owner of Summers Chrysler Dodge in Duncanville, Texas. Jim was a long-time resident of Duncanville, Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Red Oak, Texas, before moving to Eastland. He was also owner of Summers Professional Vehicles and is well known throughout the funeral industry for funeral vehicle sales.
Jim was preceded in death by his father Joseph Summers, his mother Rubelle Summers, stepmother Rosalie Summers, and son Eric Summers. Jim is survived by his wife of 25 years Sue Summers of Fort Worth; Clara Summers of Maypearl, Texas; daughter Shani Flemins and husband Dave of Maypearl; son Chip Summers and wife Amanda of Plainview, Texas; daughter-in-law Debbie Summers of DeSoto, Texas; step-daughter Susan Fisher and husband John of Keller, Texas; and step-daughter Kathy Borchardt of Rockport, Texas; grandchildren Peyton, Preslie and Pearce Flemins of Maypearl, Joshua and Laura Summers of Plainview, Lisa Petty and Husband Greg of Fort Worth, Lesli Fisher of Albuquerque, and Jason Borchardt and Shannon Dooley of Rockport, Texas; great-grandchildren Halli, Cole, Cannon, and Logan Petty of Fort Worth.
Funeral services are 11:00 am, Thursday, April 19, 2012, at Jaynes Memorial Chapel with Rev. Shawn Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Wheatland Cemetery in Dallas. Visitation is 5:30-7:30 pm, Wednesday. Serving as pallbearers are Reo Evans, Dale Cozart, Wilton Mabry, Ardeen Vaughn, Ancel Autry, and David Rhoton.
