Mariette Octavie Leona Séguin (26 Oct 1914 – 18 Sep 1979): She was baptized at St Vincent de Paul Church, Montreal, by Fr M. Robert on 26 Oct 1914, the same day as her birth. According to the 1914 parish baptismal register (page 59), godparents were her paternal grandparents, Edmond Seguin and Octavie Benoit. She married Kenneth Barker Lloyd on 2 Mar 1935 in Detroit, Michigan. Mariette and Ken had three children (Kerry, Quentin, and Karyn). In August 1950, Mariette and Ken became my godparents at my baptism at St Mary Magdalen Church, Melvindale, Michigan. In addition to being a wife and mother, Mariette achieved business success as a leader in management with Sarah Coventry Jewelry and Judy Lee Jewelry. She went on to sell life insurance in a manner to assist young families to safeguard against tragic loss of a breadwinner. Mariette raised her children to be strong and independent citizens. All three of her children eventually earned college degrees, a dream she'd had for many years. Mariette died Tuesday, 18 Sep 1979, at Kensington Gardens Rest Home, 37 McComas, Kensington, Maryland. Her arrangements were handled and services were conducted on 21 Sep 1979 by Pumphrey's Bethesda-Chevy Chase Funeral Home, 7557 Wisconsin Avenue, Bethesda, Maryland. She was buried with her husband at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia in Section 3, Site 2409-B.
