West Point graduate in 1937 and taken prisoner in the Philippines. He survived the Bataan Death March andalso survived the sinking of the Oryoku Maru on December 15, 1944. Aboard the Enoura Maru on January 9, 1945 and wounded and later died from his wounds.

He was originally buried in Arlington National Cemetery, but was dis-interred and re-interred at West Point in 1990.
