When Gen. Lafayette came to America, he was one of his soldiers?. Revolutionary War: captured by the British alone with his brother Thomas, escaped, lived in the wilderness and rejoined his forces for the surrender of Cornwallis. Post war: lived in Greenbriar Co., VA, Madison Co., KY.

He travelled with Daniel Boone in KY, then to MO, living in St. Louis for 2 years and then to what would later become Franklin Co., MO, settling on a tract of land of the MO River, 6 miles above Washington, MO.

Mosias married abt 1785 in Albemarle Co., VA, Leah Downey b. 1762 in KY (buried at this cem.); they had the following children: (1) George Maupin who m. in 1820 Nancy Miller; (2) Thomas Lemuel b. 1799 who married in 1817 in Franklin Co., MO, Anna Miller b. in Greenbriar, VA; (3) Louis/Lewis 1st m. to Peggy Estes-no kids, 2nd-Nancy Girdler (she was the mother of all his children and 3rd-Mary Storey; (4) James; (5) Daniel b. 25 May 1804 d. 26 Jan 1880 m. Margaret G. Hutton b. 1818 d. 26 Feb 1860; (6) Lucy; (7) Sarah; and (8) William Maupin b. 14 Feb 1787.
