David T. Akins was the Chief Engineer aboard the Steamboat Ticonderoga, which operated on Lake Champlain from 1906 until 1953. Some of David Akins records relating to his time with the Lake Champlain Transportation Company in 1925 are now held in the Champlain Transportation Company Collection, Special Collections, University of Vermont Library. Ticonderoga is a National Historic Landmark, and it now resides at the Shelburne Museum in Shelburne, Vermont.
