William was born to Mary Jane Shockley Stubbs and Charles Stubbs in Harrington, Delaware and lived there his whole life. He was a well known farmer in the area and liked by everyone that knew him. He married Eliza Hurd,and they had 6 children: Reba Louise Stubbs, Emil Stubbs, Edgar Stubbs, Ruth Stubbs James, Paul Stubbs and William Henry Stubbs Jr. William was also the step-father of Nancy Hurd Fox. William was a faithful member of Pilgrim Holiness Church of Harrington. He died in Milford Memorial Hospital of heart failure after a stroke. He lived on a farm on Masten's Corner Road in Harrington at the time of his death. He was also survived by two sisters at the time of his death, Emma Stubbs Reed and Sadie Stubbs Killen. Services were held Wednesday March, 30 1949 at Boyer Funeral Home, Harrington. He was my maternal great grandfather.
