Ernest Jesse Mason, 70, of Etowah, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, he was a truck driver for most of his working career. A son of Annie and the late Howard Mason, he was a member of West View Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Chris Chadwell; one brother, Billy Ray Mason; one sister, Mary Ann Mason; and one brother-in-law, Dennis Daugherty. He was a loving and much loved man.

Survivors include his wife, Clota Mason of Etowah; his mother, Annie Mason of Riceville; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jeff and Michelle Mason of Athens, and Randal and Michelle Woods of Etowah; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy and Joe Winder of Athens, and Becky and Dale Perkins of Etowah; two grandchildren, Becca Woods and Jaret Perkins, both of Etowah; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Bobby and Sue Mason of Athens, Verlin Mason of Riceville, and J.C. Mason of Athens; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Bertha Lou Hicks of Athens, Joyce and Don Elliott of Riceville, and Bernice Bates of Etowah; two sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pat and Paul Williams and Gloria and Jerry McMinn, all of Etowah; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with Minister Micah Bush officiating. Family and friends will assemble at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Friday and will proceed to Liberty Hill Cemetery for the 2 p.m. burial.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of arrangements.
