Iowa, 1 August 1899, p. 1, column 2, An Old Pioneer Gone, "William Elarton, an old resident of Hillsboro, died at his home there Sunday afternoon about 5 o'clock. His death was caused by cancer of the face from which he had been a great sufferer for a long time. The funeral was held there this morning at 11 o'clock. He was the father of Mrs. Otto Kapferer, of this city."
