In April, 1933 Sophia and an acquaintence named Mr. Dillard Darby were both kidnapped by Bonnie & Clyde after they had stolen Mr. Darby's car out of Ruston, LA. (As per a live interview with Sophia in the 1985 documentary film, "Bonnie And Clyde - Myth Or Madness", narrated by Burl Ives.)
