Mrs. Iva Holton Garrett, 83, of 102 Brantley Circle died at 6 p.m. Sunday in Maryfield Nursing Home. She had been in declining health since June and critically ill one week.

Mrs. Garrett was born June 18, 1891, in Jamestown, a daughter of John L and Phoebe Horney Holton. A lifelong resident of this area, she was married in 1911 to Jesse Virgil Garrett. He died June 28, 1947. She was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, a teacher in the primary Dept. for a number of years and a member of United Methodist Women.

Surviving are two sons, Jack V. Garrett Jr. of 102 Brantley Circle and Frank Garrett of 700 Gatewood Ave; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Louise Abernethy of Jamestown; and one brother, John S. Holton of Vickery Chapel Road.

Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church Chapel by Dr. Bernard R. Fitzgerald and the Rev. R. Delbert Byrum. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park Cemetery. The body will remain at the Sechrest Funeral Home until placed in the chapel 30 minutes before the funeral. The family will be at the home, 102 Brantley Circle.

The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church or to one's favorite charity.
