The third daughter of Edwin S. and Enrie J. (Hamilton) Fee, Bessie lived her childhood in the town of Clarksburg, Decatur Co., IN. Following her graduation from Clarksburg H.S., Bess attended Monmouth College, Miami U. (Oxford, OH) and Bradley Polytechnic U. (Peoria, IL. Her fields of study included painting, music and domestic science.
May 11, 1918, Bess married Delevan B. Hardin, the couple taking up residence in Monmouth, IL following Mr. Hardin's career in the US Army. Bess was the mother of one son and one daughter.
It is interesting to note that Dell and Bess traveled to Europe in the summer of 1948. Their return passage was aboard the Queen Elizabeth from Cherbourg, France to New York City.
