MY HUSBAND'S PATERNAL GRANDMOTHER...Flossie was the daughter of Charles B. Hill and Sarah Emily Hill (Phinney). She married Perley Edward Ayer on 22 March 1913. They had three children, Herbert P. Ayer, 1918-1995, Everett A. Ayer, 1919-1981 and Pauline Ayer, 1928-2002. Flossie loved The Lord with all her heart. She continued to teach Sunday School well into her 80's.I have a special memory of her. That amazing night in July,1969,my husband and I went to visit her. This was the night Neil Armstrong took those first steps on the moon. We watched on her tiny black and white TV this historic achievement. All Flossie could say was,"Man is going to upset the elements,we have no business going to the moon," and you could hear the fear in her voice. Many years before this, she purchased a Bible for my husband when he was a young boy. It was the only Bible he ever had as a child and it made all the difference in the world. Flossie was truly loved by all and let her light shine for all to see for the glory of God. A humble woman who didn't have much by the world's standards; Flossie now walks on STREETS OF GOLD... Well done thou good and faithful servant. Oh,and I'd be willing to bet THE MOON doesn't look half as scary as it did to her that night in July!
