Vosburgh's body arrived in New York city on the morning of his funeral and burial, May 23, 1861. President Lincoln laid a wreath on his casket a few days later.
His monument was commissioned by his regiment and designed by noted sculptor Patrizio Piatti, who is also buried in Green-Wood.
