Memorial services for James A. Bode, 57, of San Antonio, were held Saturday, January 13, 1996, at Knolle Chapel of First Methodist Church in Seguin. Mr. Bode died Monday, January 1, 1996. He was survived by his wife, Phyllis Bode of San Antonio; one daughter, Lisa of Stockdale; his mother, Juanita Bode of Seguin; and two brothers, Franklin and Kenneth Bode, both of Seguin. Memorial services for James A. Bode, 57, of San Antonio, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 1996, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 502 Kayton Avenue, San Antonio. Mr. Bode, formerly of Seguin, died January 1, 1996, in San Antonio. He was born August 6, 1938, to Adolph and Juanita Bode. He graduated from Seguin High School and Texas Lutheran College and received his master's degree from Southwest Texas State University. He was an educator in the Seguin ISD and later in the North East School District in San Antonio. He was very active in the United Methodist Church as well as other civic and political activities in San Antonio and in Texas. Mr. Bode was co-founder of the San Antonio Democratic League (SADL) and a former member of the State Democratic Executive Committee. He was past president of the Highlands Park Neighborhood Association, and a member of the San Antonio Zoning Commission. Survivors include his wife, Phillis Bode of San Antonio; one daughter, Lisa of Stockdale; his mother, Juanita Bode of Seguin; two brothers, Franklin Bode of Seguin, and Kenneth Bode of McQueeney; two sisters, Eileen Kitchens of Marfa, and the Rev. Gerry Harrison of Wisconsin. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society, or to the charity of one's choice. [Published in the Sequin Gazette-Enterprise, January 3, 1996]
