Charles Leo DuPont, 79, of Federal Point, died Thursday, March 2, 2000 at his home following an extended illness.



Charles Leo Du Pont, 79, of Federal Point, died Thursday, March 2, 2000 at his home following an extended illness.
A native of St. Augustine, he returned to Putnam County in 1988 coming from Orange Park where he has resided for 43 years.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and Korea and worked at the naval base in Jacksonville in civil service as an aircraft mechanic for 25 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Federal Point and while in Orange Park was a member of Grace Episcopal Church. He was also a member of the Woodmen of the World.
He is survived by his wife, Thelma S. Du Pont, two sons, Bobby Sapp of Peniel, Kevin Sapp of Lake Delancy, a daughter, Nancy Owens of Ocala, a brother, Clarence E. "Buzzy" Du Pont of Federal Point, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and 11 nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2000 at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home of Palatka with Father Ted Griswold and Brother Dannie Williams officiating. Burial will be at Magnolia Cemetery in Orange Park.
