Son of George and Sarah (Imes) Evans of Ironton OH. He and his brothers worked in the coal mines to support the family. He joined the Army and spent his time stationed in New York. Married Mary Elizabeth Shingleton in November of 1942. They had a daughter Cheryl Lee in November of 1944. He eventually was a truck driver for Frigidaire before being forced to medically retire in 1971 when he had lung cancer. Doting grandfather to his daughter Cheryl and son in law Sydney G. Hill's four children: Marianne Elizabeth, Michelle Leigh, David Michael, and Caryn Lynn. Member of Otterbein United Methodist Church. Passed away from a stroke at home (5353 Greencroft in Dayton, OH) on October 30, 1984. Viewing, prayers, and funeral held at Woodlawn. Interned in the mauseleom where he was joined by his wife just a mere 15 months later.
