Donna Peoples McClendon, 76, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at her home in Waco. Services will be 2 p.m., Wednesday, April 18, at Waco Memorial Park Chapel with the Rev. Ron Durham officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 17, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Funeral Home.

Donna was born in Conroe, Texas, to the late Clint and Donna Peoples. While she was young, the family moved to Austin. Donna attended and graduated from the Austin School System. She attended the University of Texas where she met her future husband, Sam McClendon. Donna and Sam married in 1958. They moved to Waco in 1959, and joined Columbus Avenue Baptist Church. Soon afterward, Donna completed her college education by attending Baylor University, and receiving a degree in elementary education. She taught second grade in the Midway School System for 28 years, retiring in 1996. She was greatly loved and admired by her students. Donna and Sam traveled extensively all over the world and for the last ten years spent many months at their condominium in Red River, New Mexico.

Donna is survived by her loving husband, Sam; cousin, Jim Henderson, of La Vernia, TX; brother-in-law, James and wife, Ola, of Belton, TX; other family members, and many friends.
