Doyle Franklin Dugger, of Twin Falls, unexpectedly passed away Thursday, April 12, 2012, at the age of 83.

Born in Guthrie, Okla., Doyle joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. During the Korean War, he served aboard an aircraft carrier off the coast of Korea. Working as an instructor, he retired from the U.S. Navy in 1965 with the rank of electronics technician chief petty officer. He also retired from the FAA in 1980, having worked on remote mountain tops maintaining the radar systems that track air traffic between the west coast and Salt Lake City. He was a fixture in Idaho golf, winning numerous championships, including six Idaho State Seniors Amateur Championships and several Twin Falls Municipal Golf Course Championships. He was also a member of the Carter Cup Matches. Few players are fortunate enough to get a hole-in-one, but Doyle had four. He also had two extremely rare double eagles! In the last few years, he was unable to play golf. He missed the game and his friends very much.

Doyle is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie Rudolph Dugger of Twin Falls; and three children, Gary Dugger of Twin Falls, Mickey (Anne) Dugger of Reno, Nev., and Karen (James) Govier of Silverton, Ore. Doyle leaves six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

At his request, there will be no service, just a small family gathering.

Arrangements are under the direction of Reynolds Funeral Chapel of Twin Falls.
