Albert J. Finethy, 77, of Nashua, formerly of Woburn, Mass., died Wednesday, March 21, 2007, after a brief hospital stay.

Mr. Finethy was born June 4, 1929, in Woburn, Mass., son of the late Albert F. and Catherine (Jahnke) Finethy. He was raised in Woburn.

While living in Woburn, he along with his parents ran the family business, Albert F. Finethy Inc. General Contractors, until its close in the 1970s.

Mr. Finethy was the widower of Marjorie (Rideout) Finethy.

He moved to Nashua with his second wife, Marjorie (Rideout) Finethy. While living in Nashua, he was employed as a general contractor and later became the building inspector for the city of Nashua.

After his retirement from the city, he served as building inspector for the Town of Brookline.

Mr. Finethy raised four children with his first wife, Patricia. He loved to travel and play golf. In the final years of his life, he enjoyed reading books and volunteering at St. Joseph Hospital. as well as the company of his friends.

Fraternally, he held membership in Mount Horeb Lodge AF & FM. He was member and past president of the Woburn Kiwanis Club and served that organization as lieutenant governor in the State of Massachusetts.

Mr. Finethy was a member of First Baptist Church in Woburn.

He graduated from Woburn (Mass.) High School in 1946. He also attended Bordentown Military Academy and Norwich University.

Mr. Finethy was predeceased by a daughter, Rebecca Finethy McMenimen, and a sister, Cynthia Finethy Ray.

Survivors include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Bruce C. and Roberta Finethy and Byron J. Finethy, all of Woburn; a daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Michael Ward of Tewksbury, Mass.; a son-in-law, Robert T. McMenimen of Billerica, Mass.; his stepchildren, Nancy (Rideout) Duncan and her husband, David, of Hollis, Kathy (Donnellan) Perrault and her husband, Richard, of Wilmington, Mass., and Kenny Rideout and his wife, Leslie, of Malden, Mass.; 15 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, James Ray of Houston; a dearly loved companion, Jeanne Lamphere of Nashua, and his former spouse, Patricia Campbell.

Davis Funeral Home in Nashua is in charge of arrangements.
