Sept. 29, 1931 - April 13, 2012

LeRoy Novak, age 80, of Foley, died Friday April 13, 2012 at his home.

Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2012 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Gilman. The Rev. Gregory Mastey and Rev. Daniel Walz will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

LeRoy Novak was born September 29, 1931 in Alberta Twp.,Benton Co.,MN to Thomas and Rose (Mastey) Novak. He married Lorraine Dobos on September 16, 1957 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Opole, MN. LeRoy had worked in construction and had farmed all his life in Alberta Township and had owned and operated Novak's Gravel. He had taken over the family farm in 1957 until passing it on to the 3rd generation in 1993. LeRoy continued to work there daily, growing and harvesting vegetables and other crops until he was diagnosed with cancer. He was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where he had been on the parish council and was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. LeRoy enjoyed pitching horseshoes, fishing, trips to Las Vegas and the casino, and playing cards. Also, it wasn't hard for LeRoy to find a reason to get together with family and friends to celebrate any occasion. He loved spring as he was always anxious to work in the fields.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine, Foley; sons and daughters, Michael, Gregory, Joan (Jack) Paggen, Julie, Lori (Mike Hennen), Karen, Danny (Jenny), Steven (Tennelle), all of Foley; grandchildren, Jonathan and Jay Paggen, Kendra Vizenor, Tanner and Morgan Miller, Davin, Ethan and Nolan Novak, and Olivia, Ava and Ivy Novak; brothers and sisters, Adam (Rita), Alvin (Lorraine), Eileen (Don) Bialka, Rosemary Pulczinski, Betty (Mark Brenny) Motschke and sister-in-law, Connie Novak.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Norbert, sister, Evalin and brothers-in-law, Reine Motschke and Cy Pulczinski.
