Lee Roy Stevens
Lee Roy Stevens, sr. was born at Brownville, Neb., Jan 12, 1870 and passed away at 4:40 March 18, 1946, at the St. Elizabeth's hospital in Lincoln, at the age of 76 years, two months and six days.
His early years were spent in Brownville. His father, Eugene, and mother, Saloma, were pioneers of Brownville. He was married on May 28, 1892 to Daisy M. Fry at Auburn, Neb. To this union was born 11 children, one son preceding him in death. He is survived by his wife and ten children. He also leaves 24 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, four sisters, and two brothers.
He was employed by E. S. Stevens Wholesale company, of Beatrice, for 20 years and later moved to Lincoln, where he was in the grocery business at 20th and S streets for 12 years. Ill health forced him to retire several years ago at which time he moved to Beatrice where he has since made his home.
He was baptized in the Christian church when he was 18. He was a member of the Masonic lodge in Beatrice and the United Commercial Travelers several years.
Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon, March 21, at 2:30 p. m. at Bergermeyers in Beatrice. The service was conducted by Rev. A. Peterson of Lincoln. Phyllis Moore, a Granddaughter, sang and burial was at Evergreen cemetery.
